Laredo Safety Rank Three in the Nation

LAREDO, TX. – Safety in Laredo ranks number three in the United States, rated the WalletHub polling company, compared to 182 cities.
More than five thousand police officers in the various agencies that operate in the community are a benchmark for containing crime, Mayor Pete Sáenz Jr. said in an interview.
“More than $500 million in wages spills into the security economy,” Saenz said. «In April of this year we occupied position number thirteen, but in just months we placed ourselves at number three in security.»
Two cities in Texas hold the honor of safety, Mayor Saenz said, referring to Laredo and McAllen.
Sáenz said that Wallethub took a sample of the 150 most populous cities in the country and highlighted Laredo as one of the safest where police exercise hegemony of action and fight crime at different levels, even when it is on the border with Mexico.
«The presence of the thousands of federal agents gives us certainty and we provide protection and care to families and visitors,» said Mayor Sáenz. “When we talk about security we mean the involvement of Laredo police and Webb County sheriffs.”
Wallethub said it measured Laredo on three metrics number 4) in home and community security; number 24 in risk of natural disasters and number 107 in financial security. Brownsville ranked No. 20 overall in all data metrics and No. 22 in home and community safety; No. 2 for natural disaster risk and No. 153 for financial risk.
Overall, the report’s top five safest cities include Columbia, Maryland as #1, followed by Nashua, N.H., Laredo, Texas, Portland, Maine and Warwick, R.I as the safest cities listed in order.
