LAREDO, TX. – Joined as one, men, women and children toured the facilities of Texas A&M International University in the Alzheimer’s Awareness Walk.
Their participation was accompanied by donations to continue searching for the antidote to the disease that undermines the lives of many Laredoans.
Patricia Villaseñor Sendell, leader of the Alzheimer’s Association, and associates called for the walk on Saturday morning.
“There was significant support from families, the government, organizations and the university,” Villaseñor said. «We don’t know how many people deal with Alzheimer’s every day, but our interest is to help.»
KGNS news anchors Mindy Casso and Jerry Garza opened this year’s walk. Sammy Ramírez of 107.3 XHGTS-FM was also on the microphone as host.
Verónica Ramírez sang the national anthem and the colors were presented by war veterans.
Garza and Casso led the walk through the corridors of the university marking the hubbub for joining a life project.
The interest was to awaken the participation of citizens and those who had a relative with Alzheimer’s.
People with Alzheimer’s do not know where they are and with whom, nor do they know what disease they are facing.
Alzheimer’s was predicted in people over 65 years of age, but in recent times it has been reflected in patients up to 30 years of age.
Through donations, the hope that the organization offers by financing research and continuing to fight for a cure is fixed. Progress is being made as new drugs show promising results.
