LAREDO, TX – With the start of September, Laredo ISD launched an awareness and support program for students facing childhood cancer.
The proclamation ceremony, in commemoration of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, was attended by parents, council members, school administrators, and students.
This special event will honor the courage of children and families affected by cancer, while raising awareness about the importance of early detection and community support.
Through this proclamation, LISD commits to supporting students and families affected by cancer, highlighting their struggle and reinforcing the district’s commitment to hope, advocacy, and awareness.
Among the different types of childhood cancer, the most common are leukemia, as well as tumors of the central nervous system, lymphomas, and neuroblastoma, which arise in immature nerve cells. Wilms tumor in the kidneys and Rhabdomyosarcoma, a tumor in the muscles.
