LAREDO, TX. – The sixth homicide was of a 42-year-old man stabbed when he slept in his residence at 2200 Iturbide, at 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Victim Oscar Osvaldo Bedarte, 42, was pronounced dead in his bedroom by Webb County Forensic Services. Suspect Tomas Alejandro Aguilar, 18, was arrested and charged by the District Attorney with felony one felony murder. He is now in the Webb County Jail without bond.» The causes for which Bedarte was killed are part of the investigation,» said police spokesman Investigator Joe Baeza. “They knew each other. How he got to the house, this point is being clarified.”Police located the knife used to take Bedarte’s life and it is part of the evidence. Police received a call at 1:30 a.m. de Aguilar, indicating that he was involved in an activity where he received injuries and was at the intersection of Santa Isabel and Hidalgo. Aguilar was sent to receive medical attention, while the scene of the murder was two blocks away. During the questioning of the police, Aguilar’s versions did not have consistency until the investigators were clearing up his statement with the facts. He later admitted that he had attacked Bedarte when he was sleeping.»I stabbed him several times when he was sleeping,» Aguilar said in a written statement to police during questioning. The reasons for the attack were not clarified by the police, indicating that the investigation was not yet finished.
