LAREDO, TX – With salutes, anthems, and the playing of the bugle, the attacks and the terrorist victims of September 11, 2001, were solemnly commemorated.
Twenty-four years have passed since the Al-Qaeda terrorist attack, which claimed the lives of 2,977 citizens in New York.
The ceremony at the Juárez Lincoln International Bridge brought together officials from Washington and local authorities, as well as police officers from all three levels.
It has not been forgotten that the way of life in this country has changed, nor have the challenges posed by the attack and the deaths of innocent people been ignored.
CBP agents continue to protect the nation at its borders every day.
Albert Flores, CBP Chief at the Port of Laredo, led the solemn ceremony.
The master of ceremonies introduced visitors from Washington and local guests. A barrier of officials, firefighters, and police covered the bridge’s entrances while flag bearers from CBP, the Police, Firefighters, DPS, and Border Patrol marked the passage and protected their shields and flags, followed by two officers with the Star-Spangled Banner to raise it.
The national anthem was sung, and the master of ceremonies offered strength and commitment to safeguarding the homeland.
The CBP chief and his entourage laid the wreath to honor the victims.
Then, the salutes were heard, and the sound of silence continued with the police trumpet officer.
A CBP helicopter flew overhead, honoring the ceremony.
The terrorist attack, premeditated by Osama bin Laden,
changed procedures, methods, and security schemes in the nation.
Now, authorities are meticulous, and through the national computer, they identify local, national, state, and international criminals with an extensive database.
